Residents can obtain higher education from the Ohio Valley College of Technology located in the township. In addition, many options are available just outside the township. Kent State University-East Liverpool Campus and New Castle School of Trades are just ten minutes away, and Kent State University-Salem Campus and Youngstown State University are other nearby options. Parks

St. Clair Township is proud of the beautiful Beaver Creek State Park. It is located in the southeastern corner of Columbiana County, Ohio. In the Mid 1800’s the Sandy & Beaver Creek Canal ran through the area that is now the park. There are several trails along with picnic areas to enjoy the many scenic views the park offers. Bring the kids to feed the ducks at the large pond located next to the Old Gaston’s Mill and the Malone Covered Bridge. Show your children the Old Dailey’s One Room School House to see how children used to live long ago. Make sure you leave time to visit the Vodrey Chapel, William’s House, Beaver Creek Trading Post, Sandy & Beaver Canal, Gaston’s Lock, The Pioneer Village, The Lower Cabin and Applebee’s Blacksmith Shop.

Beaver Creek State Park is located in St. Clair Township in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains; it is one of Ohio’s most scenic parks. The park includes Little Beaver Creek, a state and national wild and scenic river, and acres of forest wilderness. The rich history of the area invites visitors to explore Gaston’s Mill, pioneer village and abandoned canal locks. There are approximately sixteen miles of hiking trails which take visitors to historic canal locks and through a steep walled gorge, 23 miles of bridle trails provided for horseback riding and two mountain biking technical trails. There are 50 non-electric sites for camping. Little Beaver Creek offers one of the most enjoyable canoe trips in the state of Ohio. While you are there you can visit the Wildlife Education Center where live animals and over 300 animal mounts are on display. The park is open to the public May through September and is host to over 7,000 visitors annually.

Nearby is the Ohio River, which is ten minutes from St. Clair Township for those who enjoy water sports.

Included in our growth is the creation of the Calcutta Community Park. The park became a reality due to the township obtaining a Clean Ohio Conservation Fund grant. The township in conjunction with the local Rotary Club has finalized the construction to preserve and restore natural features that contribute to quality of life and the state’s heritage. The park also includes a memoriam to all branches of the military.

St. Clair Township serves and protects their community by means of a police department, which has a sworn force of 14 police officers. They are responsible for serving and protecting residents and businesses, which encompasses 30 square miles. The Police Department operates solely on the funds generated from police levies.

The township contracts for fire protection services with the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department and Glenmoor Volunteer Fire Department both located in the township. The fire departments have state of the art equipment and each maintains a membership of 25+ firefighters. The funds to provide fire protection services are obtained through fire levies.

The township road department consists of four employees who have the responsibility of maintaining approximately 70 miles of township roadway.

In addition to the police officers and road crew the township employs office staff to assist the police department, trustees, and fiscal officer.
